I use FreeFileSync to solve all the problems mentioned above. The problem with the RAID configuration is that it would make your computer environment a little complicated and you won't have the option of synchronizing select folders. Partition_1 for OneDrive and Partition_2 for Dropbox). How do you efficiently determine which files are new compared to the last data dump that you kept? You could manually compare file times between your files and the files of the new data dump, but you can lose a lot of time doing so.įreeFileSync can solve this problem - How do you synchronize folders of two or more cloud storage solutions in real time? I don't know of any cloud storage giving you that option and a RAID configuration is possible, I suppose, if you give each cloud storage a partition (i.e. How do you make external hard drive backups efficiently? The external hard drive naturally exists outside of a RAID configuration and a cloud storage sync folder and it could be very difficult and time-consuming to do the backup manually.įreeFileSync can solve this problem - Suppose that you regularly receive a data dump via an FTP. RAID configurations and cloud storage solutions have their place, but they cannot solve many of the problems that this program can. Never seen any issues there.Commenti: For those who do not know what FreeFileSync can do for you, let me sum it up for you: it's a program that allows the user to manages folder synchronization jobs. It's pretty normal to turn off last access timestamps, at least on Linux with SSDs. I can't think of any reason that FFS would use the last access timestamp for anything, so can't see any reason why it would matter. But makes me wonder if maybe he was having power issues? Maybe plugged them all into the same dodgy powerboard or something? It is strange that it happened for 3 drives at once. I'm not sure how software could do that, especially if it's not running as root/administrator. Again and again, a very weird sound never heard this from an external HDD before. When FreeFileSync copied the data to that HDD, somewhere in half of the data the harddisk started to squeak and make a sound like a cricket. If it's just that one person having issues, probably not FFS's fault though. Are there more threads reporting similar issues? If it was a bug in FFS, then there would be. Bit of a shame, because it'd be more popular otherwise, probably could even make it to Ninite. won't allow it on Chocolatey and stuff like that. The author is a bit weird about letting other people package it, i.e. Great software overall, especially how powerful the interface is for previewing changes before you actually execute them. I've used it for like 10+ years, on heaps of different computers under both Windows + Linux, and never had any problems with it.
